Thomas asks…

which of these cordless drills are better?

I need to use a drill to make stuff with wood and drill holes in a regular wall but will it have enough power to use with a hammer drill attachment? ( used to drill into brick )

The Makita 18v-lithium is in my opinion the best cordless drill out there! I have 5 dewalt drills in my shop and one makita lithium and since I bought the makita I find myself reaching for it all the time instead of the dewalts! Home depot has a package deal on the new makitas and you cannot beat this deal two drills and for the price you pay its only 50 bucks more than if you bought only one! Go with the makita!!!

David asks…

help please.. which drill should i buy?

Makita 18V Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless 1/2 In. Driver-Drill Kit

My boyfriend asked for this for christmas. I think he picked this because it was only 200. I am willing to spend 350. Is there a drill that is similar but better. Maybe one that he will like more.

I don't want to buy one and him say i wanted the other one because its better.

He works on cars at a body shop and his drill uses air. I know he wants electric but that's all i know..

thanks in advance...

$200 is a lot of money for an electric drill. It is already a top of the line model. Plus, it is Lithium Ino, which is very important. Those have the most power.

If you can get that model, go ahead. If you can't get it anymore, chose a Milwakee, Dewalt, or Craftsman Professional with the same specs.

If you have an additional $150 to blow, get some accessories for it. For example, some additional drill bits would be nice. You can buy wood boring bits, masonry bits, or some large size bits. You could also get additional drivers for it. It probably comes with some, but you would be suprised how many accessories you can buy for a drill. Fill up his stocking with all the extras and he'll be nice to you for a long time!

Nancy asks…

Which is better, Makita or DeWalt?

Looking to buy from one of these companies and i was originally going towards RIDGID, but have heard mixed about them. I havent heard anything bad about makita or dewalt, so i was wondering which is better for a cordless 18v lithium ion company. Would buy drill/driver, impact driver, light, sawzall. Also on makita which would be better to get in the long run LXT or compact drills/kit. NEED AS MUCH HELP AS POSSIBLE. plz and thx

Both have their strong points and areas where they come up short. People who swear by one brand or another generally place more value in the strong points about their favorite tool. A tool is something that you form a partnership with, and is too important to purchase based on what I or anyone else feels about it.

Go to a store that sells both, and try them out if they will let you. Compare weight, balance points, etc. How comfortable is that tool in your hand? Can you use it all day long? Does it just plain feel right? Is one louder than the other? How is the vibration?

Both DeWalt and Makita make good tools. I have owned both, and would buy either one again.
